IT & security review
Summary
- Log and data files never leave the PC — not their contents, names or folder paths.
- The only outbound connection is one license server over HTTPS (443).
- A single exe that needs no install and no admin rights. No services, drivers or startup entries.
What leaves the PC
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| A value that tells PCs apart (derived, not the PC's own information) | License check |
| Program version · display language | Update notice · display language |
| Paid edition: key · computer name | Lets users recognise their registered PCs |
Ads in the free edition do not use any third-party ad network. Clicking an ad opens the default browser.
Network
| Endpoint | Port | Notes |
|---|---|---|
License server session.runplotter.com | 443 (HTTPS) | Allow this address on firewalls and proxies |
Install · permissions · files
| Install | None — one exe (about ). To remove, delete the exe and the settings files next to it |
| Permissions | Standard user |
| Requires | Windows 10 / 11 · Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime (included in Windows 11 and current Windows 10) |
| Writes | Settings files next to the exe (or the user folder %APPDATA%\expgraph\ if that folder is read-only), a display cache, and files the user exports |
| Deploying to many PCs | Copy the exe. Paid users register their key on each PC |
| Code signing | In preparation (until then Windows may show “Unknown publisher” — how to open it · file checksum (SHA-256)) |
When the internet drops
Short drops are fine — it carries on when the connection returns, and the paid edition keeps working for days offline. Fully air-gapped networks are not supported yet — contact us if you need that.
